Tomatoes can also cause urinary ailments and, in some cases, cystitis (bladder burning). Diarrhea can arise in people who are allergic to tomatoes. Tomatoes can also cause bloating if you already have IBS. According to a report published by Longwood University, Tomatoes are greasy and acidic and should be avoided during diarrhea. According to another report from the University of Minnesota, tomatoes may also be a source of salmonella, an organism that causes diarrhea.
